Bryn Hyfryd means pleasant hill and is a late Victorian period chapel manse, perched above the Mawddach Estuary in the small village of Bontddu in the Snowdonia National Park. We are about 200 metres away from the estuary but there is a route down to it via Bontddu and over the A496.

Bontddu is halfway between the seaside town of Barmouth and Dolgellau. Bontddu (pronounced "bont-the") has a pub, the Half Way House, which serves food and a convenience store. The village is famous for gold mines which lie in the hills to the rear of the property. Bryn Hyfryd ("brin huf-rid") was built as accommodation for the adjoining chapel's priest. The chapel was constructed for the gold miners in the late 19th century. There are spectacular views of the Mawddach Estuary and the Cadar Idris range from the front of the property. Woodland and riverside walks and cycle rides start from nearby.
